Flipt Pictures Happy New Year 2014

Happy New Year 2014

Wow! I didn’t update this blog at all last year! What’s up with that?

Well .. if you’ve seen me around town or around the interwebz (here & here) you might have seen I’ve been promoting a new business name & logo, Flipt Pictures.  So that has kept me pretty busy … setting up the business, the branding, the website.  All business is now done through Flipt Pictures, my animation and illustration studio.  This includes all future films.  I also became a Board Member of Kansas City Women in Film & TV and am on the animation programming committee for the 2014 Kansas City FilmFest.

I hope to continue collaborating with great people & companies to create some fun and quality animations.  There are already some great things set up for this year.  So it looks good!   If you’re interested in keeping up to date with Flipt Pictures I encourage you to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or sign up for our e-newsletter.

Also this last year, I have been teaching a couple of classes at the Art Institute of Kansas City … Photoshop, After Effects, and 2D Animation Principles using Toon Boom.  What a great experience this has been!  There’s nothing like seeing a person light up when the software/techniques they are learning starts to click and then their imagination takes over with all the possibilities.

And teaching future designers & animators about the importance of organization in their projects and files has been a little bit of a personal mission of mine.  I have always hated having to wade thru Photoshop and/or After Effects projects that have layers named Layer, Layer Copy, etc. and nothing is organized into folders.  That just ends up adding to the time of the project to try to figure out where things are and what they did, which adds to the bottom line of the company.  So to save yourself & your company time and money … organize!

Sorry, I got a little off base with my organize soapbox.  So what will this website become?  This site will continue to be my personal online portfolio & blog. The portfolio will include all of of my work including video, while the Flipt Pictures site will solely be focused on animation & illustration.  I’m not sure I’ll update this blog much at all, as is probably indicated by the zero posts last year … but we’ll see.

That’s about it for me right now … I hope I got you caught up.  Happy New Year to you all!  Wishing you great strides forward in your endeavors this year!

Keep on playin’!
Mary
